Day 1 - What is a Friend?

What is a friend?

According to Webster's Dictionary, the word friend means:
A person you like and enjoy being with
A person who helps or supports someone or something
One attached to another by affection or esteem
 A favored companion
And so on...

Why do we consider friends to be favored companions, people we like and enjoy being with?

What qualities do friends posses that make them such great people in our lives?

Think of your best friend, someone you are really close to.  Why are you so close to them?  What things do they do for you that helps you to feel close to them?  What things do you do for them that deepens your friendship?

Building the Foundation of Friendship

Get to know their background

A good friend knows who you are, where you are from, you interests, desires, characteristics, family life, etc.  Developing this understanding is an essential part of building a friendship with someone.

Christ knows these things about you.

Now it's our turn to learn about Him... Here are some resources that might help.

Scriptures

What other scriptures can you find that can help you understand
Christ's personality and background more fully?

Talks, Devotionals, Mormon Messages, etc.

One of the most important things to remember is that friendship is strengthened as you genuinely strive to get to know each other...  What can you do to get to know Christ better?

Reflection

Are you letting Christ into your life?
What things are holding you back from letting Him in and becoming friends with Him?
What can you do to overcome these challenges and start building your friendship with Him?

Invitation

Getting to know a person well enough to become a friend takes time, effort, and dedication.

Will you dedicate the time and effort necessary to building a real friendship with Christ?

What do you want to get out of this walk with Christ?  Take time to ponder your relationship with Christ and where you hope it will be and the end of this walk.
